September 1, 2006, Newsletter Issue #15: How to Thaw Frozen Steaks

Tip of the Week

Frozen steaks should be thawed in the refrigerator. You should allow one day for each pound of steak you are thawing. Thawing a frozen steak in the microwave is discouraged, but if it is necessary you should use the lowest power setting available. Since meat that is placed in the microwave cooks from the inside out, you should monitor your steaks frequently.
